Dean Bateman

Lead Flight Paramedic

Dean joined the Ambulance Service over 30 years ago. He qualified as a Paramedic in 1997. He has been providing and teaching prehospital critical care medicine extensively since 2005. 

Dean has worked as a flight paramedic for several Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) both in the UK and across the Middle East for the last 20 years. As a qualified Critical Care paramedic for 8 years, he has also been a lead paramedic for a world renowned HEMS service. 

Dean has a keen interest in major trauma, resuscitation, education and medical provision in austere environments. This interest has led him to work in challenging environments across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This experience has given Dean a wealth of knowledge in worldwide health systems and the potential challenges faced in the provision of emergency medical emergency care.
